In a unexpected collaboration that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the formal release, "A strange meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.

The mission centers on "strange experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This update also adds the game's latest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
